State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli has released the results of an audit of the Oneida County Department of Social Services.

The Comptroller's Office found contracts with community-based agencies were not always negotiated in a timely manner and county officials may be overpaying for services or paying for services not received.

The audit says department officials need to improve their monitoring of contracts to ensure that the services provided and payments received were in accordance with contractual agreements.

County officials agreed with the audit's recommendations and plan to initiate corrective action.
