August is National Immunization Awareness Month.

As the new school year approaches and with flu season right around the corner, the Oneida County Health Department is reminding everyone that their immunizations should be up-to-date.

Director Phyllis Ellis says the immunity provided by many vaccines wanes with age, making it necessary to repeat or receive a 'booster' in many cases

Ellis also says it's important that parents make sure their children are properly immunized from birth to four years of age when most vaccines are administered

For a complete schedule of upcoming immunization clinics, you can call the County Health Department at  798-5747 or visit their website.
