For the past 25 years, Ed Welsh has been the host of Autotalk, heard every Saturday morning at 8am on WIBX AM 950
Ed’s automotive career spans 4 decades. As a former technician, shop owner and service manager, Ed has been in or around much of the automobile business. For the past 26 years, Ed has worked for the American Automobile Association and is currently the Central Region General Manager for AAA New York, representing over 1.5 Million AAA Members.
Ed has served on National AAA Automotive policy committees. He has helped design and implement several Nationwide AAA Automotive and Traffic Safety programs now in use. He also advocates for AAA members on a variety of consumer, traffic safety and legislative issues.
Ed’s broadcast philosophy is simple. Since most people have a car or truck in their life, there is a natural curiosity about them. Autotalk was designed to discuss all things automotive. From safety and insurance issues to mechanical maladies to recall and legislative matters, all, are standard fare during the broadcast. As a gifted conversationalist, Ed can take complex automotive problems and issues to their simplest components for the listeners.
Whether it’s explaining why gasoline costs so much or how antilocking brakes work, Autotalk listeners receive accurate, understandable and useful automotive information to improve their automotive quality of life.
Outside of work Ed is deeply involved in community service and continues to Chair or sit on the Boards of several charitable organizations. He is also a 5 term Oneida County Legislator and has authored many articles for several publications.
