Fresh off of 'Godzilla''s huge opening weekend, director Gareth Edwards has been hired to helm one of the 'Star Wars' spinoff films, which will be released December 16, 2016. That's an impressive leap for Edwards, who made his feature film debut in 2010.
2002's 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' was a box office phenomenon when it was released. Really, it was a legitimate phenomenon that made over $240 million domestically and is still one of the most successful independent films ever made. Though it may be a little late in the game, there's now a 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2' on the way.
This weekend 'Godzilla' stomps into theaters and it looks like it's going to be a -- yes -- monster hit. As the creature is sixty years old, it's no surprise it's had a lot of work done on its face, as almost every film starring the fire-breather has offered a new design for the character. And now the new Gareth Edwards version has revealed some of the unused artwork they used to reconceive Godzilla.
Steven Spielberg has been lining up projects left and right, but one might become the front-runner for his next movie with this latest announcement: Joel and Ethan Coen have been hired to write Spielberg's currently untitled Cold War thriller, which is tentatively set to star Tom Hanks.
This weekend 'Neighbors' crushed it at the box office as it made nearly fifty million dollars and is on track to make a whole lot more. This success has raised Zac Efron's profile, which means he's now talking to Marvel. Could he be our 'Doctor Strange?'
In the latest clip and featurette for 'Maleficent,' Angelina Jolie suggests the film is faithful to the original story, and that her character loves being evil. We always figured that this film was a more modern take that cast Maleficent as the possible hero of the story, though this clip doesn't answer that question entirely. Which makes us curious how it plays out.
Picking up the baton from John Williams (and Don Davis), fan favorite Michael Giacchino will score 'Jurassic World.' Best known for his work on Pixar films and J.J. Abrams' movies and shows, he's clearly on his way to becoming the new Williams, so his hiring makes sense.
'The Flintstones' is being rebooted for the cinema, though this time (back) as a cartoon, with the help of Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. They'll be producing the film, which has already got a writer attached.
