US Soccer Team Advances to Finals of the Women’s World Cup [VIDEO]

Abby Wambach scored the go-ahead goal, and the United States woman's soccer team defeated France on Wednesday, 3-1, clinching a spot in the finals of the Woman's World Cup.

After the US took an early 1-0 lead, France began dominating the game's possession, finally scoring an equalizer in the 55th minute. But Les Blues weren't able to further capitalize on what ended up being a 25-11 shots-on-goal advantage.

Doctor’s Assistant: Tiger Woods Did Not Receive Performance-Enhancing Drugs

Anthony Galea did not provide Tiger Woods with performance-enhancing drugs.

That was the message from Galea's former assistant, Mary Anne Catalano, through her attorney Ron Personius on Monday. Galea, a Toronto doctor with known ties to high-level athletes such as Woods, Alex Rodriguez, and Carlos Beltran, pleaded guilty last month to importing misbranded and unapproved drugs -- including human growth hormone -- into the U.S.

Search and Rescue Group Files Civil Suit Against Casey Anthony

The search and rescue group that organized the search for Caylee Anthony has filed a civil suit against her mother, Casey Anthony, to recover money spent in the search to find the girl.

Anthony, 25, was found not guilty in her daughter's 2008 death last week and is scheduled to be released from prison on Sunday after receiving credit for time served on a four-year sentence, CNN reported.

California Politician Proposes South California as 51st State

We've been doing the 50-state thing since Hawaii got the nod in 1959. But if one California politician gets his way, we're going to have to add another star to the flag.

Jeff Stone, who sits on Riverside County Board of Supervisors, is proposing that his and 12 other counties in the southern half of California break away from the Golden State and form their own state called South California.

The Westboro Baptist Church is at it again.

The fundamentalist and anti-gay group has announced it will picket the funeral of former first lady Betty Ford, who died last week, because she got divorced before marrying the man who would later become President Gerald Ford. This, the group says, made her an adulterer who "loved to sit with tawdry reporters and blather about sex."
