GENESEO, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities are offering $20,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the slaying of a teenage girl whose body was found in a western New York field more than 35 years ago.

The FBI and Livingston County Sheriff's Office announced the reward Monday in the death of 16-year-old Tammy Jo Alexander.

The girl disappeared from Brooksville, Florida, in the late 1970s and it wasn't until last year that a body found in a Caledonia field in 1979 had been identified as the missing teenager. Police say she had been shot.

Investigators say they've chased leads across the country since the teen was identified last year. But many questions are still unanswered, including how Alexander ended up in New York.
