On this week’s edition of AutoTalk, host Ed Welsh is joined by Putnam County Sheriff Don Smith to discuss the effort to keep larger, heavier trucks off US highways. Smith is a trustee and past president of the New York State Sheriff’s Association. In 2012, there were 3,700 large truck collisions resulting in 100 deaths. Increasing truck size and weight would only make our roads less safe, Welsh says.
