Baby Giant Panda Gets Her Name

One hundred days have passed and The National Zoo has received 123,000 votes from people all over the world.  And now the baby panda, who turns one hundred days old today, gets a name.

Bao Bao means "treasure" or "precious."  It was the name chosen by the majority of voters, beating out Ling Hua, Long, Yun, Mulan, and Zhen Bao.

Bao Bao, who was born in Washington, D.C. on August 23, 2013, is only the second surviving panda cub born in Washington.
