A five to six-month old baby was killed in a fire in a home on Dudley Avenue in Utica over the weekend.

It is the third fire-related death of a child in the Utica/Rome area this winter.

The fire began at around 10:00am on Sunday, March 9, 2014.  Although the cause of the fire is still under investigation, there is a possibility that the fire started in the infant's bedroom.

The baby's parents and four other children, along with the family who lived in the downstairs apartment, escaped the fire and smoke.  They are receiving temporary housing through the American Red Cross.
