Town of Eaton, NY (WIBX) - A babysitter is facing a serious charge, after a 2-year-old boy in her care wandered 1/4 mile away from the house they were staying at this morning. The child was found standing near Route 26 and Eagleville Road in the Town of Eaton by a Madison County Sheriff's Deputy.

Officials with Child Protective Services were called to assist at the scene and determined the child wandered away from his 20-year-old babysitter, Starr Miller. Miller, who was woken up by police an hour after the child was found, allegedly told police that she put the child down for a nap and went to another room in the house.

The child has since been reunited with his mother, and Miller was arrested on one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She was issued an appearance ticket to answer the charge at a later date in the Town of Eaton Court. According to officials, the boy was found in soggy pants and holding his shoes on the grass shoulder of Park Street just adjacent to where Park Street and Route 26 come together.
