‘Back to the Future’ DeLorean Coming to Norwich (AUDIO)
The Northeast Classic Car Museum in Norwich is going back to the future when the DeLorean used in the popular movie franchise comes to town Sept. 26.
The DeLorean will be stopping as part of the Fireball Run and Northern Adventure Rally, a scavenger hunt-like event to promote the search for missing children. The run and DeLorean is expected to arrive during the midday hours.
The car will only be on display for 45 minutes before the Fireball Run heads to its next stop.
The rally comprises 40 teams of drivers who set out this Friday from Independence, OH, on a 2,500-mile trek to Bangor, Maine, ending on Sept. 29.
On Sept. 26, it will stop in Norwich, where visitors can see the original DeLorean used in “Back to the Future.”
The museum and Chenango County sheriff’s office will host activities, beginning at 11:30 a.m., as the Fireball Run rolls through, although the exact time of the DeLorean’s arrival is unpredictable and hinges on the team’s efficiency in deciphering the scavenger hunt clues.
Admission to the museum that day will be half price. There will also be a free will donation in the lobby which will go to the Chenango County sheriff’s office for their safe child program of fingerprinting and id’s for children. The sheriff’s office will be able to create about 30 ID cards for parents in the museum lobby.
