Bail Out Attempt Turns Into Jail Time For Friend

Utica, NY (W)IBX) - A man arrested over the weekend shared his legal problems with a friend who attempted to bail him out of jail. According to law enforcement officials, 20 year old William Bryant of Utica was taken into custody early Sunday morning while loitering in front of Johnny Diamonds Restaurant on 893 Bleecker Street.

Officials say Bryant who was wanted on a drug charge, was in possession of narcotics at the time of his arrest, and is facing an additional charge of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. However,  police say the story didn't end there, because less than an hour later his friend, 18 year old Kiara Rodriquez was attempting to post bail for Bryant when she was arrested on two active warrants. Officials say they discovered Rodriquez was wanted in Utica and New Hartford.

According to officials, the first arrest occurred around 4:07 a.m. and the subsequent arrest of Rodriquez happened around 4:52 a.m. at the police station.
