Bass Pro Shop Opening Prompts Travel Advisory

Kristine Bellino, WIBX

The grand opening of the Bass Pro Shop at the Riverside Center in Utica has prompted the New York State Department of Transportation to issue a travel advisory.

The DOT says the event on Wednesday is expected to draw thousands of additional people to the Riverside Center.

As a result, they say Routes 5, 8 and 12 and Thruway Exit 31 will experience higher than normal traffic volumes.

Motorists are urged to be alert and use caution when traveling through the area during the grand opening and to pay attention to all traffic signals, signs and electronic message boards.
