BBB Warns Job Seekers Of Scam
Buffalo, NY (WIBX) – The Better Business Bureau is warning New Yorkers of a new scam.
Communications Director Peggy Penders says the scammers are posting fake employment opportunities on Craigslist and this time they’re claiming the Better Business Bureau is hiring.
Penders says a local woman applied to the bogus BBB offer and was told she was selected for an interview, but first had to sign up for a direct deposit account, which should be a red flag.
Penders says the Better Business Bureau does not post job openings on Craigslist.
She says while it can be exciting to be contacted for a job interview, job seekers should take a step back and look closely at all the details before responding.
