Albany, NY (WIBX) - State Police and the State Thruway Authority are reminding motorists to be aware of the increased presence of deer along the highway this time of year.Officials say drivers should be on the lookout for deer and pay attention to deer crossing signs posted along the Thruway

The signs indicate that in the past, there have been frequent deer crossings in the immediate area.

The Thruway Authority says deer are most active at dawn and dusk and deer often travel in groups -- meaning where there's one -- there may be more.

Officials also say slow down when approaching deer standing along the roadside because they may run into oncoming traffic.
