Albany, NY (WIBX) - The Assembly has passed a bill to develop a Cyber Research Institute in Rome.

Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi says the legislation would authorize the State Urban Development Corporation to enter into public and private partnerships with Rome Lab to create a cyber security research hub for both state and national purposes.

Brindisi says the Cyber Research Institute will also help protect Rome Lab from any future Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRACC) closures.

Rome Lab currrently employs 1,300 people.
