Bill Would Name NY Post Office For Late Congressman Hinchey
SAUGERTIES, N.Y. (AP) — A bill before Congress would name a Hudson Valley post office for the late U.S. Rep. Maurice Hinchey.
The veteran Democratic lawmaker died last month after a long illness. He was 79.
Earlier this month Reps. Louise Slaughter, of Rochester, and John Faso, of Columbia County, introduced legislation to rename a post office in Saugerties in Ulster County for Hinchey.
Hinchey was a high-profile environmental advocate in the state Assembly and later for two decades in Congress.
