ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -- Buffalo Bills starting receiver Sammy Watkins hopes to have the walking boot removed from his surgically repaired left foot by as early as Thursday.

As for when he'll be cleared for practice, Watkins still isn't sure.

Watkins says there's still no definitive timetable, though he didn't rule out the possibility of returning to the field at some point during training camp.

Watkins provided the update Wednesday after watching practice from the sideline as the Bills held their second week of voluntary practice sessions. It was the first time Watkins has spoken since having two screws inserted into his foot to repair a stress fracture in April.

Watkins said he's not sure when the fracture occurred. He said it was discovered while taking a physical two months ago.
