The defendant in a case involving the shooting death of a Binghamton teenager on July 4, 2014 will go to trial later this month after turning down a plea deal.

23-Year-old Andre Lee is charged with murder, assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the fatal shooting of 19 year old Scott Wright Junior at the Town and Country Apartment Complex on Roberts Street.

He’s also accused of assaulting another 19 year old, hitting him over the head with a glass bottle.

Wright was shot in the abdomen and died three days later.

Lee appeared in court June 3 and rejected a plea deal that would send him to prison for 20 years. If convicted by a jury, Lee faces a potential maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

Jury selection is due to begin June 20.
