Bizarre Word of Life Case Resurfaces on National TV Monday Night

The horrific details of a brutal punishment at the Word of Life church in Chadwicks, NY near Utica, that resulted in the beating death of a 19-year-old and the beating injury of his 17-year-old brother, will be featured on People Magazine Investigates: Cults, airing at 9 p.m. ET on Investigation Discovery Monday June 18th.

The story of Lucas and Christopher Leonard horrified this community in October of 2015 when the details of the beating punishment, which lasted some 11 hours and resulted in the death of the elder brother Lucas and the hospitalization of Christopher, disseminated from the Oneida County District Attorney's office.

The boys' father and mother, along with their sister and church members were arrested for the beating and would eventually face court proceedings in Oneida County Court. The events inside the courtroom were televised nationwide and captivated a community for several weeks.
