A Blossvale man is facing felony charges after a standoff with Camden Police. 31-year-old Richard Tobiasson was arrested on Saturday for menacing a police officer with a knife. Camden Police responded to a call to check on the well-being of Tobiasson who was apparently distraught over a recent breakup.

When police arrived and made contact with the man, he allegedly brandished a knife and menaced the Officer with it. The Officer was able to gain distance from Mr. Tobiasson and after doing so, Mr. Tobiasson held the knife to his own throat. A brief standoff ensued, and eventually Mr. Tobiasson dropped the knife and retreated into a nearby apartment.

After two hours of negotiation Tobiasson finally surrendered to officers without further incident. He is charged with Menacing a Police Officer and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, both D Felonies. Mr. Tobiasson was arraigned in Court and remanded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility with no Bail. The Officer was not injured and Mr. Tobiasson suffered a superficial self-inflicted knife wound to his arm.
