Blossvale Man Dies After Being Pinned Under Garbage Truck

Utica, NY (WIBX) – Utica Police say a Blossvale man is dead after being pinned under a garbage truck at the Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority on Leland Avenue.

Police say 28-year old William Pope was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where he died.

According to preliminary reports, Pope was emptying his truck and realized he has left the truck in gear.

He tried to get back into the vehicle and fell between the truck and a building, landing under the truck, which ran him over.

Pope worked for Bliss Environmental Services in Rome.
