ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A state board is set to decide whether to reopen the bidding for a Las Vegas-style casino in the Southern Tier.

The Gaming Facility Location Board is scheduled to vote tonight in response to a request from Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Last month the board chose sites for three casinos in the Catskills, Schenectady and the Finger Lakes but decided against recommending a fourth casino license to the Southern Tier.

After local leaders in the region along the Pennsylvania border objected, Cuomo called on the board to reopen the bidding.

Two development teams initially expressed interest in developing a casino in the Southern Tier. One, Traditions Resort and Casino, is now backing the other applicant, Tioga Downs.
