Utica, NY (WIBX) - A Waterville youth is facing assault charges for allegedly knocking a BOCES teacher unconscious during an altercation with another student. Oneida County Sheriff officials say it happened when the teacher attempted to stop 17-year-old Evan Ferriter from attacking another youth in the hallway.

It's alleged that as Ferriter was walking away, words were exchanged, and he ran full speed toward the other student, shoving the teacher out of the way, causing him to strike his head and rendering him unconscious. Ferriter was booked on a 2nd degree assault charge, and committed to the Oneida County Correction Facility with cash bail set at $15,000.
