POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a man's body has been found along the Hudson River in upstate New York where a man disappeared last week while swimming with friends.

The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office says it was notified around noon Tuesday that a body was spotted in the water near the Mid-Hudson Bridge in Poughkeepsie. Police were dispatched to the area in boats and a man's body was recovered.

The body was turned over to the county medical examiner's office for identification.

It wasn't known if the body is that of 49-year-old Paul Moschitta, of Poughkeepsie. Officials say he was reportedly with a group of swimmers in the river near a park when he disappeared July 24.

Police conducted searches for six days but found no sign of Moschitta.
