The Authorities say the body found March 19 in a northern Otsego County creek is that of a Schoharie County woman.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office says authorities received several 911 calls from people who spotted the body in the creek at the intersection of Buel Road and Ray Mower Road in Cherry Valley.

March 20, officials say they identified the remains as those of 54 year old Diane Cummings of Sharon Springs in neighboring Schoharie County, about 50 miles west of Albany and a few miles to the east from Cherry Valley.

Authorities say they don’t think the death was a suicide but have not given any details as to how long the woman’s body had been at the site or her cause of death.

The investigation is continuing.
