HARPERSFIELD, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say the body of a 77-year-old man has been found in a rural upstate New York town nearly a week after he failed to return from a hunting trip.

The Daily Star of Oneonta reports that officials say Carl Weaver's body was found Tuesday afternoon in the woods on privately-owned land in the Delaware County town of Harpersfield, 50 miles (80 kilometers) southwest of Albany.

His snow-covered truck was found nearby on Dec. 13. Weaver, from Seward in neighboring Schoharie County, had told a neighbor he was going deer hunting on Dec. 10. He was reported missing two days later.

Hundreds of people were involved in searches conducted over several days.

No cause of death has been determined. Officials say he had his firearm with him but there were no visible signs of injury on his body.
