A boil water advisory is in effect for the Marcy area today.

Officials with the Mohawk Valley Water Authority say that "unforeseen circumstances during a scheduled repair" forced the advisory.

The advisory is in effect at least through the day on Thursday, April 28, 2016 until laboratory testing confirms that the water is safe for consumption.

Customers are being told to boil water for at least two  minutes and then cool it before using it for drinking of cooking.

The affected areas include:

  • Fox Road (from State Route 291 to Ives Road)
  • Irish Road

According to a written release from the MVWA: "Customers are also advised against using any water that appears cloudy or discolored - especially hot water, since such usage will draw the water into the hot water tank, which may require customers to flush their tank once clear water becomes available. Customers should also avoid washing their clothes in discolored water, since it may contain sediments that could permanently stain their laundry."

Residents or businesses in the area with questions may call the MVWA's Boil Water Advisory Message Line at: (315) 792.0309.
