The Boilermaker Charity Bib program has raised nearly $250,000 in just two years.

At a reception at the F.X. Matt Brewery last night, Boilermaker President Tim Reed hosted the Charity Bib Finale to recognize the 11 local not-for-profit businesses that raised more than $140,000 from this year's Boilermaker Road Race.

Reed said with this type of outcome, the charity bib program will only get bigger in the future.

"Some of our runners are veteran runners for the most part," said Vice President of Community Development for United Cerebral Palsy Kathy Hartnett, "but knowing that they were doing it now with a mission behind them made it much more worthwhile for them."

Hartnett added that UCP will use the money raised through their charity runners to start a fitness program for their school aged children that will include fitness equipment and walking trails.

Other charities involved in this year's Bib Program included: Masonic Medical Research Lab, CNY Veterans Outreach Center, Food Bank of CNY, Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Make-A-Wish, Friends of the ARC Foundation, ACR Health, CNY Susan B. Komen for the Cure, Sitrin Healthcare Center and Juvenile Diabetes of CNY.
