Boilermaker Committee Introduces Several Changes To 2012 Event
Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Boilermaker Expo will be at a new location this year, as Mohawk Valley Community College has stepped up its efforts for the annual event.
Members of the Boilermaker committee, along with MVCC president Randy VanWagoner were on hand to discuss the move from the Expo's former home at the Masonic Care Community.
VanWagoner says by hosting the event, the college has ingrained itself as one of the major supporters of the race.
"This is a natural progression, actually, of our relationship with the Boilermaker," VanWagoner said. "The Boilermaker, the race itself, coming by our campus for all these years. Getting involved with the Refugee Center and the international mile, hosting the elite runners for the last few years staying here overnight on campus, as well as the student competition for the Boilermaker logo."
This year's expo features nearly 70 vendors, a hands-only CPR class and an appearance by actor Stephen Baldwin.
Other announcements made during regarding year's race include a new shuttle pick up spot on Schuyler Street, the sale of $10 commemorative medals for this year's event and free taxi rides home to anywhere in Oneida County, courtesy of Brindisi, Murad, Brindisi, Pearlman and Pertz.
The Expo takes place on Friday from noon to 7 p.m and Saturday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
You can hear live coverage of the Boilermaker here on WIBX, Sunday morning starting at 7 a.m.
