Boilermaker Entries Top 6,000

Utica, NY (WIBX) - Entries for the Boilermaker have topped 6,000.

Race officials say 6,118 runners have signed up for the 15-K race, which has a cap of 13,000 this year.

Last year at this time, just over 1,500 runners had registered.

Aoplications are available online at www.boilermaker.com and at the Distance Running Hall of Fame on Genesee Street.

The 34th running of the Boilermaker takes place on Sunday, July 10th.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, April 6th at noon, the Boilermaker, in conjunction with the American Heart Association, will be celebrating National Start Walking Day.

The public is invited to take part in a one-mile walk starting at Utica City Hall.
