Just over a month before the big race, the Boilermaker has a new President.

Mark Donovan was introduced as President of the non-profit organization on Wednesday.

The 55-year old Donovan is an Albany native who has lived and worked in the Mohawk Valley for the past 23 years.

He spent over two decades at ConMed Corporation and most recently served as COO of the Mele Companies.

Donovan says he accepts the challenge to carry the organization's momentum forward,  continue to enhance the experience of Boilermaker Weekend and further develop activities, events and partnerships dedicated to the health and wellness of the community.

“When I started the race 41 years ago my goal was to change people’s lives in a positive way. We are very excited to have Mark join us and I’m confident he will carry this mission forward,” said Earle Reed, founder of the Boilermaker Road Race. “The race has always been our what, but not our why.”

Donovan takes over for Tim Reed, who stepped down last October after ten years on the job.

The 41st running of the Boilermaker will take place on Sunday, July 8th.
