Utica, NY (WIBX) - On a day when most people choose to wear athletic gear, headbands and kinesio tape, others choose to break the mold... even if it's just for a little while.

The 35th annual running of the Boilermaker was the biggest it's ever been, and with the increased numbers came runners sporting costumes of all sorts.

In past years, jesters, clowns and various superheroes started Utica's premiere road race with exuberance, but didn't have the same flair as they neared the brewery.

This year, spectators on the sidelines could see the likes of Hulk Hogan, several Hawaiian hula dancers, a couple Scotsmen and Captain America. But, the honor of "best costume of the day" goes to a pair of penguins who ran the entire 15 kilometer race, making good time.

As for the Hulkster? He finished the 9.3 mile race in one hour and sixteen minutes, minus most of his costume, of course.
