A letter obtained by WIBX addressed to Mayor Robert Palmieri by Bonadio & Company, an accounting firm in Albany, New York, shows that an audit of the city's finances cannot be conducted because reconciliation has not been completed for Utica's financial accounts for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2012.

The letter states, "The Comptroller's office is aware of the open items and we have been in communication (at minimum weekly) with them as to the status of their completion."

WIBX's calls to the Comptroller's office since last week have not been returned.

We will continue to keep you updated on this story as more information becomes available.
