UPDATE: 06/20/2016 11:53am According to the New York State DOT the accident along the westbound lanes of I-90 has been cleared.  Traffic has returned to normal.

UPDATE: 06/20/2016 10:38am The New York State Department of Transportation is advising that there is slow traffic, at times, stop and go, along the westbound lanes between Exit 33 and Exit 34a of the New York State Thruway.

Emergency responders are on the scene of an accident involving a New York State Police car.

One witness says that more than a dozen law enforcement and emergency personnel are assisting at this hour.

The accident, in which an NYSP car ended up wedged under a guiderail, took place this morning, June 20, 2016, in a westbound lane along the New York State Thruway, I-90, near exit 34.

It has not yet been confirmed whether other vehicles were involved or if there are any injuries.

Drivers are advised to use extra caution in the area.
