Utica, NY (WIBX) - Utica police are investigating a bank robbery that happened around 12:30 this afternoon at the newly-opened NBT Bank on Genessee Street in Utica. Officials are looking for a black male between the age of 25 and 35 years old, weighing roughly 170 or 180 lbs. Police also describe the suspect as wearing a Yankees cap and a brown Carhartt jacket. Public Information Officer, Sergeant Steve Hauck said, "Well, we had a black male enter NBT Bank and demanded money. He did rob the bank and left with an undisclosed amount of money."

Officials are not disclosing specifics at this point but did provide the following information to the public. "Well at this point we don't think that their's any type of danger to the public, not to make light of a bank robbery of course, because it's a pretty serious offense, but we're pretty confident that it's an isolated incident, and it's not something that's going to terrorize the neighborhood so to speak," Hauck said. Anyone with information is asked to call UPD.
