Utica, NY (WIBX) - It was a low-scoring affair, but the Utica Brewers were able to hold on and collect the win against the Sherrill Silversmiths.

The Brewers (5-5), found themselves down 1-0 after making two errors on one play and allowing Sherrill's Mike Weakley to score.

This turned out to be the only offense the Silversmiths (5-6) could muster. In the bottom of the fourth inning Utica tied the game up, as Steven Chagolla's double scored Jesse Pintado.

The score remained knotted up until the bottom of the ninth. Utica's lead off hitter, Kenny Durling, hit a triple, setting himself up for the winning run. Durling scored off a Brett Dennis sacrifice fly to right field, locking the game up for the Brewers.

Tyler Bowditch pitched six innings for Utica and allowed only two hits. Jordan Sechler picked up the win for the Brewers, pitching three scoreless innings of one-hit ball.

Sherrill's Tom Dybas also pitched six innings, letting in one run off eight hits. Troy Loparco took the loss, though, allowing one run in two and a third innings.

The Brewers will take on the Silversmiths again tonight at Donovan Stadium in Utica. The first 1,500 fans through the gate will receive free Chobani yogurt, while the first 500 will also receive a free Brewers silicone bracelet.
