Two agencies are reporting that they have received calls about a bright streak of light that appeared over the San Francisco Bay area.

The calls began coming in on Friday night, February 15, 2013.  The Chabot Space and Science Center in Oakland, California and the American Meteor Society at Pennsylvania State University are said to have received reports of sightings.

The light appears to have come from a small meteor or fireball and does not pose reason for concern.  Fear about things "falling from the sky" is heightened right now because of the meteor that so tragically impacted Russia this week.

We have contacted both agencies to see if there are any photos of the phenomenon available and will update this story as more information becomes available.
