Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi says he's disappointed that Governor Andrew Cuomo vetoed legislation he sponsored to provide permanent funding sources for upstate transit agencies like CENTRO.

The bill would have established The Upstate Transit Funding Board to work with the state DOT to determine the best way to efficiently fund transit systems

Brindisi says there are many issues related to transit service that should be examined outside the state budget process.

Brindisi says upstate transit systems carry over 570,000 passengers a year, and combined, they would be equivalent to the seventh largest transit system in the country.

He says every year as the state budget is under review, he always hears from constituents who rely on transportation, and who are concerned they could lose services they need.
