Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi says the confirmation of Besty DeVos as Secretary of Education would have a devastating impact on public schools in the Mohawk Valley.

Brindisi says DeVos' poor performance at her confirmation hearings clearly shows she does not make the grade to lead the nation's schools.

He says DeVos should be given an incomplete for her inadequate testimony in which she avoided specifics on many important issues, including the future of early education.

Brindsi also says DeVos has a clear agenda to privatize education.

"At a time when many of our Mohawk Valley school districts are struggling, confirming a long-time charter school proponent who will not rule out diverting public school funds for private schools could be the last straw for many high needs school districts." said Brindisi.

He's urging Senators who are considering her nomination to vote no.
