Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi is sponsoring legislation to give school districts more time to prepare and implement a new teacher evaluation system.

The legislation extends the deadline for Regents to adopt new guidelines for teacher evaluations from June 30th to November 17th. School districts would then have until November of 2016 to implement the guidelines

Brindisi says the bill would also ensure that test questions on the English and Math Assessments for third through eighth graders are grade-level appropriate.

It would also require the State Education Commissioner to review Common Core education standards and make recommendations for potential modifications.
