Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi say senior homeowners in the Enhanced STAR Program who have not received their rebate check from the state should have late fees on their school taxes reimbursed.
Brindisi has written to State Budget Director Robert Mujica and State Commissioner of Taxation and Finance Jerry Boone requesting assistance for homeowners who have been affected by a problematic rollout of the state’s new Enhanced STAR refund checks.

I am asking state officials to make sure everyone impacted in the Enhanced STAR Program receive the full amount they are entitled to as soon as possible, and late fees and penalties for anyone who has been affected by problems with their Enhanced STAR check this year be rebated,” Brindisi said.

Brindisi says this year, the state is sending rebate checks to new homeowners in the program, and many of them are either getting a smaller amount than they should, or their check hasn't arrived at all.

It's not known how many Enhanced STAR recipients in the state have been affected, but Brindisi says several assessors report they're getting calls from a number of concerned homeowners in the program.
