Albany, NY (WIBX) - Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi says a package of legislation intended to increase the accountability of state and local governments has passed the Assembly.

Brindisi says the legislation will help provide greater transparency for government practices.

The Sunshine Week package includes a bill that would increase the access of records involved in a judicial proceeding, making them available to the public and media outlets, if there's no risk the disclosure would disrupt the proceedings.

Sunshine Week is a national, bi-partisan effort to stress the importance of open government and the freedom of information.
