A local state lawmaker is saying no more toll hikes for Thruway drivers.

Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi is responding to recently published reports quoting New York State Thruway Authority Executive Director Thomas Madison as saying that "toll adjustments" are likely on the Thruway in the near future.

Brindisi has written to Madison and Thruway Board Chairman Howard Milstein, asking that they avoid any future toll hikes.

He says toll hikes would be detrimental to working families and small business people.

Brindisi says tolls were never intended to be utilized as the long-term funding mechanism for the operation of the Thruway once financing for it was paid off, and that happened in 1996.  He is asking Madison and Milstein to suspend all future toll hikes for Thruway users.
