A local state lawmaker wants Common Core requirements for Pre-K through Grade Two and Special Needs students to be re-examined.

In a letter to New York State Education Commissioner John King, Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi says judging from comments he's received from parents, the current system of testing is simply too strenuous for special needs students.

Brindisi also says parents of young students are expressing concern about the amount of testing now required in the early grades.

He says King should convene parents and educators to consider changes to some Common Core Standards.
