Three million dollars...that is the estimated impact two tech shows are expected to have on the region.

The Broadway Theatre League is announcing that "We Will Rock You" and "The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber" will not only make their United States premieres in Utica, New York, but will also "tech" here, meaning that it will be the first time that the staffs of each show get together for the first time to work on production.

"We Will Rock You" will perform in October 2013 and "The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber" will take the stage in February 2014.  Each are expected to bring in between $1.2 and $1.5 million in revenue for the area.

The other shows announced include:

  • "Memphis" (January 21-22, 2014)
  • "Peter and the Starcatcher" (March 4-5, 2014)
  • "Bring It On, The Musical" (March 25-26, 2014)
  • "Million Dollar Quartet" (June 3-4, 2014)

To increase accessibility for all shows the league is also introducing the "Cloud Club" program, whereby purchasers can get tickets in the theatre's two back rows for less than $25 per ticket, enabling a family of four to see a show for just under one hundred dollars.
