The former chair of the Broome County Democratic Committee and current 13th District Broome County Legislator, 49 Anthony Fiala Junior, is being ordered to appear in Binghamton City Court at a later date after being charged with drunk driving.

Here is the rest of the story from WIBX / Townsquare Media sister station WNBF's Kathy Whyte:

City Police say Fiala is accused of hitting a bicyclist at the intersection of Clinton and Oak Streets shortly after midnight October 2 and then leaving the scene.

The bicyclist reportedly suffered minor injuries.

Fiala was arrested shortly before 1 a.m. at his First Ward home and issued an appearance ticket for City Court.

Fiala, who is the son of former Broome County Executive and current New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner, Barbara Fiala, was elected to the legislature in 2012.

Prior to that, he represented the First Ward on Binghamton City Council and was elected Council President twice.

He currently serves on the Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee, Public Safety and Emergency Services Committee, Emergency Medical Services Board and the health Advisory Board.
