The Broome County Health Department on Front Street in Binghamton will remain closed through April 20 after floor-sealant fumes drove employees and clients from the building April 9.

County officials say there were no reports of injuries, but the building was cleared and ventilated.

Now, it’s been decided to allow the on-going construction to proceed full-time instead of on nights and weekends to get phase one to completion.

Health Department operations are relocated with the Women, Infant and Children program at the Wilson Hospital Cafeteria Conference Room April 13, then at the Central United Methodist Church on Nanticoke Avenue, Endicott April 14 and at the Kelley Building 229 to 231 State Street, Binghamton, Fourth Floor April 15-17.

Most other health department employees were moved to the Emergency Services Building in the Town of Dickinson.

Questions about the WIC program can be directed to (607) 778-2881.  Health Department questions can be called in to (607) 778-2802.

The offices are due to reopen April 20.
