BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — A member of a violent Buffalo street gang has been sentenced to consecutive life sentences in prison for fatally shooting a man nicknamed "Shooter" five years ago.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says 37-year-old Roderick "Ra-Ra" Arrington was also sentenced Wednesday to 30 years in prison on two other firearm charges.

Arrington was convicted on charges that included racketeering conspiracy and murder-in-aid-of-racketeering.

Prosecutors say he was a member of the Schuele Boys Gang that operated on Buffalo East Side. Authorities say he fatally shot Quincy "Shooter" Balance on a city street in August 2012 after believing that Balance was involved in the fatal shooting of a gang associate four days earlier.

Arrington is one of 28 members of the Schuele Boys who were arrested in a gang crackdown. All but one has been convicted.
