Albany, NY (WIBX) - Oneida County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Burger has been awarded with the New York State Sheriff's Association Deputy of the Year.

Burger (center of the photo) was nominated for the award by County Sheriff Rob Maciol.

He received the award at a ceremony in Albany on Tuesday.

Deputy Burger was shot in the ankle while pursuing a suspect in the robbery of the NBT Bank in Rome last July.

Burger was one of three Sheriff's Deputies shot in 2010.

All three received the award.
